That’s a lot of money, and that shows not only how serious the problem is, but how seriously Americans are dealing with it.

Weight loss pills are usually only prescribed to patients who are extremely overweight. The easily available weight loss pills that are obtained through online sources or health catalogs are often as powerful as the hospital-strength medications, and should not be used as a means of simply keeping off the extra few holiday pounds.

Like most medications, weight loss pills have side effects. Not everyone experiences these side effects, but you should allow it to be part of your decision-making process. Are you prepared to accept side effects such as stomach discomfort, insomnia, skin problems, dehydration, or other issues?

Consider the complexity of beating weight loss.

You will not win the weight loss battle by merely popping a pill. Weight loss requires eating right, regular exercise, careful monitoring, and self-control. The pill is merely one method that helps fight obesity in combination with other methods.

Don’t neglect consultation with a trained medical professional. Talk to your doctor. He may actually prescribe a form of weight pill, or encourage you to take herbal supplements.
